The State Might Be Holding Your Money Right Now

If you’ve lived or worked in multiple states, search all of them. Try variations of your name, including maiden names and middle initials. If you find something, claiming it is also free — you’ll just need to provide some documentation proving it’s yours.

The bigger issue: making sure this never happens to your family. Finding old money is great. Making sure your family never loses track of what you’ve built is better.
